About Us

The Winnipeg Film Group was founded in 1974 and is a charitable, artist-run organization committed to promoting the art of cinema. We have operated Cinematheque for over 25 years.

Our newly renovated Cinematheque is an intimate art film theatre devoted to screening the very best in Canadian and world cinema, including foreign language films. We premiere new films, as well as screen the works of visiting artists, touring film programs and exclusive series.

Cinematheque is located in the heart of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District, across the street from Old Market Square. We're on the main floor of the Artspace building at 100 Arthur Street at Bannatyne - one block west of Main. See map...

We operate year-round, with screenings Wednesday to Sunday (we are closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Our box office is open 1/2 hour before show start. We are currently a cash-only establishment. See screening schedule...

We acknowledge the generous, ongoing support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Arts Council. We also acknowledge the vital support of all our other funders, sponsors and donors.
